Email Marketing Specialist
OVERVIEW
The Email marketing specialist is responsible for all e-marketing campaign production tasks, including list management, segmentation, message creation, testing and launch, and will ensure that all outbound communications adhere to industry-leading standards. This candidate will also guide the strategy for transactional emails and the sales force. The position includes vendor management and project management of the IT resources. This position will be tasked with hitting key performance metrics related to acquisition, conversion and retention. The ideal candidate will understand how to balance soft marketing/creative execution with performance-based analytics to achieve high-performing campaigns and programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create both HTML and plain text emails in both ESP software and HTML editor tools.
- Create error-free code and copy that is compatible with web browsers and email clients
- Manage database queries/selects for email merges
- Integrates necessary tracking components for key performance metrics
- Maintain calendar of email deadlines for email content and deployment dates
- Deliver complete and approved emails on schedule
- Act as primary team representative to various internal "clients" who rely on email marketing to advance their business needs, including Marketing, PR, corporate development, product development, national sales and field sales.
- Requires understanding of available data fields and their relation to targeting and segmentation. Work with data warehouse team to insure lists are pulled on time, and with the data needed to drive targeting and segmentation for each campaign.
- Develop base email contact strategies, testing frequency of emails to increase opportunities for revenue without exhausting lists.
- Ensure use of best practices and compliance around permission-based marketing, privacy, spam regulation (CAN/SPAM), and deliverability.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 + years experience in email marketing, email administration and/or direct marketing
- 3-5 years experience in direct/database or customer relationship marketing program development and/or implementation.
- Expert knowledge of HTML, CSS stylesheets & styles, image optimization and composition, various web browsers, and knowledge of the web development cycle
- Email design and web design – 3-5 years professional experience
- Knowledge and experience managing an ESP; vendor/relationship management. Prior experience with Silverpop or similar ESP is a plus.
- Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver (or other HTML editing software)
- Ability to successfully organize and prioritize multiple email template projects in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a key focus on attention to detail
- Demonstrated experience building an email opt-in list and or developing permission based marketing programs.
- Enterprise-level analytics experience a plus (exposure to WebTrends)
- Experience with other online marketing channels a plus.
- Experience with content management tools.
