World Almanac Education provides schools and libraries with a high-quality product line featuring more than 6,500 individual titles in over 50 categories.  As a division of Reader's Digest, World Almanac Education along with Weekly Reader, Compass Learning, Gareth Stevens and Facts on File offers a comprehensive suite of educational resources to teachers and librarians.

Currently we have an opportunity for a Strategic Marketer who will actively participate in the development and management of our corporate communications.

Responsibilities

      Website and Email Marketing

      • Support multi-channel marketing strategy of company 
      • Create and develop email blasts for territory management support
      • Develop email blasts for overall marketing efforts
      • Responsible for benchmarking, metrics, analysis and reporting of email campaigns
      • Develop best practices for managing email names and updating contact information
      • Work with Website Manager to update company website providing copy, direction and other support
      • Responsible for Email marketing budget and vendor management
      • Works with Website Manager to achieve goals in SEO, blogs, increased website functionality including order tracking, product availability, increased functionality, product liquidation and advanced capabilities to make the web site more competitive

      Copywriting

      • Write copy and manage the copywriting function across marketing promotions including website, e-mail, trade shows and direct mail.
      • Gather testimonials from customer service and inside sales, secure usage permission, follow-up with samples and gifts.

      Special project management

      • Work with IT Department and Website Manager to create a Product Database.
      • This database will feed marketing and product development efforts across the company. Servicing web, marketing efforts, customer service, product set up, and warehouse needs
      • Develop business rules and best practices
      • Identify data format requirements and reporting functions

      Premium management

      • Use historical data, requests and gift market trends, select market appropriate premiums for inclusion in direct mail catalogs
      • Select service-oriented and cost-efficient vendors
      • Supply all necessary information to purchasing and art departments
      • Migrate premium management to the marketing department staff

      Public Relations

      • Generate press releases on new products and services
      • Post press releases, testimonials on the website.
      • Follow up with trade journals to secure coverage for WAE events and activities linking to other websites.

      Special projects

      • Assist in project management and development for bids, trade shows and other requests as needed
      • Respond to data needs for special sales, sister companies, etc.
      • Represent the company at library and educational trade shows

        Qualifications

      • Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field
      • Three years of experience in a marketing, catalog or advertising environment
      • Well-organized, team player with working knowledge of MS Office software, SEM Practices and light Dreamweaver, HTML, SQL
      • Knowledge of WebTrends analytics or ExactTarget email
      • Possess strong copywriting and project management skills
      • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
